I love seeing videos of people barefoot running. Here are two examples that show a person in Vibrams, and a barefoot runner (second video) in the 2010 Boston Marathon. The Vibram runner in particular has great form, he seems to float smoothly.
What hurts: seeing all the heel-strikers!
So you’ve decided that you want to start barefoot running, huh? Allow me to enlighten you on the terrible things that will happen to you when you start walking and running barefoot.
I went to visit my friend Josette in Westchester last weekend, and we took a day trip to the town of Beacon, NY to climb Mount Beacon. She said it was “just a hike” but it turned out to be 1531 feet hike, up some sometimes steep and rocky trails.
The initial approach was gravel. [...]
Barefooters/minimalists, now there’s a run just for us! The New York Barefoot Run September 24-25. The event runs for two days.

When i started walking in shoes and feeling the ground, it was all new, and I was excited. When I walked barefoot, it was even more enthralling – all the [...]
The big fear about barefoot running is that you’re going to get sliced up. So far (after just a few weeks) the only thing that’s happened to me is I got a sliver of something silver in my heel. It’s funny, my heels are developing really nice fat pads, so if the sliver had [...]
Today I did my entire run barefoot. I started off being “good” and just doing a few laps around the track at Astoria Park barefoot (AMAZING!!) but then I decided to do my whole loop barefoot. At first it was exciting (NAUGHTY!) I was running barefoot! Here’s an interesting observation:
It’s more fun for your [...]
I’ve been a runner since my college days (late 80s) but the last few years my ankles have been acting up so I haven’t been able to partake in my hobby much.
Way back in 2007 I came across these ugly monsters, the Vibram Five Finger shoe.
