A side effect of my barefoot/minimalist running lifestyle is that my feet are spreading. This is a good thing. I’ve never been a high heel gal, but I have been guilty of smushing my already-wide feet into shoes (and sadly in this picture you can see how my big toe curves right to accomplish the squishing).

I had one pair of ballet-ish gray shoes that I had ripped the insoles out of and i wear those when I can’t wear sandals or my elf shoes. However, i tried to wear them today, and started feeling a slight pain on the top of my foot. I stopped, took them off, walked barefoot, and SURPRISE, no pain. So that’s the end of those shoes. However, I’m quite MacGuyver-y when I wanna be – so I tried to jigger these shoes so I I can walk ON TOP of them. It worked! So now I wear them like on the right.

I really like the simple strapping system so I’m definitely going to implement this on the shoes I’m designing. :)
